Hadith 1678 - Bab 305 (Prohibition of Drawing Portraits)
Chapter 18 (The Book of the Prohibited actions)

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "Those who draw pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection; and it will be said to them: 'Breathe soul into what you have created."'

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Selon Ibn "Omar (das), le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «Ceux qui fabriquent ces images seront tourmentés le jour de la résurrection. On leur dira: «Faites vivre ce que vous avez créé».

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) visited me after returning from a journey, and I had a shelf with a thin cloth curtain hanging over it and on which there were portraits. When he saw it, the colour of his face changed (because of anger) and he said, "O 'Aishah! the most grievous torment from Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be for those who imitate (Allah) in the act of His creation." 'Aishah said: We tore it into pieces and made a cushion or two cushions out of that.

"Àisha (das) rapporte: «Le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) rentra d"un voyage. J"avais entre-temps recouvert une lucarne de la maison avec un rideau portant des images. Quand le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) le vit, son visage changea de couleur et il dit: «O "Aisha! Les gens qui auront les tourments les plus durs auprès de Dieu le jour de la résurrection seront ceux qui auront cherché à imiter Dieu dans Sa création». Elle dit: «Nous le découpâmes aussitôt pour en faire des coussins»

Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) saying, "Every painter will go to Hell, and for every portrait he has made, there will be appointed one who will chastise him in the Hell." Ibn 'Abbas said: If you have to do it, draw pictures of trees and other inanimate things.

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Ibn "Abbàs rapporte: «J"ai entendu dire le Messager de Dieu (bsdl): «Tous les dessinateurs d"images iront au feu. On leur insufflera autant d"âmes que le nombre des images qu"ils auront dessinées et Dieu les soumettra au supplice de l"Enfer». Ibn "Abbàs (das) a dit: «Si tu dois absolument dessiner quelque chose que ce soit un arbre ou quelque chose d"inanimé».

Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) saying, "Whosoever makes a picture, will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and will be asked to infuse soul therein, which he will not be able to do."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Il a encore dit: «J"ai entendu le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) dire: «Celui qui dessine une image dans ce monde sera chargé d"y insuffler la vie, le jour de la résurrection, et il ne pourra jamais le faire».

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) saying, "Those who will receive the most severe punishment from Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be painters (of living objects)."

Ibn Mas"ùd (das) rapporte: «J"ai entendu le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) dire: «Ceux qui auront les tourments les plus durs, le jour de la résurrection, seront les dessinateurs d"images».

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "The Almighty Allah said: 'Who is more an oppressor than him who goes to create like My creation? Let him make an ant or a grain of corn or a grain of barley."'

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Abou Hourayra (das) rapporte: «J"ai entendu le Messager de Dieu, (bsdl) dire: «Dieu le Très-Haut a dit: «Qui est plus injuste que celui qui essaie de créer comme Moi? Qu"ils créent donc une fourmi, ou qu"ils créent une graine ou qu"ils créent un grain d"orge!».

Abu Talhah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a portrait."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Selon Abou Talha (das), le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «Les Anges n"entrent pas dans une maison où il y a un chien ou une image».

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: Jibril (Gabriel) promised to visit the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) but delayed and this grieved him very much. When he came out of his house, Jibril met him. The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) asked him about the reason of delay, and he replied: "We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a portrait."

[Al-Bukhari].

Ibn "Omar (das) rapporte: «Gabriel avait promis au Messager de Dieu (bsdl) de lui rendre visite. Mais sa visite se fit attendre au point que cela devînt pénible au Messager de Dieu (bsdl). Il sortit alors et rencontra Gabriel. Il se plaignit à lui de son retard. Il lui dit: «Nous n"entrons pas dans une maison où il y a un chien ou une image». (Rapporté par Al Boukhàri)

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: Jibril (Gabriel) (Peace be upon him) made a promise with the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) to come at a definite hour; that hour came but he did not visit him. There was a staff in the hand of the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him). He threw it from his hand and said, "Never does Allah back out of His Promise, nor do His messengers." Then he noticed a puppy under his bed and said, "O 'Aishah, when did this dog enter?" She said: "By Allah, I don't know." He then commanded that it should be turned out. No sooner than had they expelled it, Jibril came and the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said to him, "You promised to visit me. I waited for you but you did not come." Whereupon he said: "The dog kept me from coming. We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture."

[Muslim].

"Âisha (das) rapporte: «Gabriel promit au Messager de Dieu (bsdl) de venir chez lui à telle heure. Mais cette heure passa sans qu"il n"arrivât. Elle dit: «II tenait dans sa main un bâton. Il le jeta en disant: «Ni Dieu, ni Ses Messager (les Anges) ne manquent jamais à leur parole». Puis il se retourna et vit tout à coup un chiot (jeune chien) sous son lit. Il dit: «Quand est entré ce chien?» Je dis: «Par Dieu, je ne sais pas». Il ordonna aussitôt de le sortir. Gabriel, (salut de Dieu sur A lui), arriva alors. Le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) lui dit: «Tu m"as promis de venir et je me suis assis à t"attendre. Tu n"es pourtant pas venu». Il dit: «J"en ai été empêché par le chien qui était chez toi. Nous n"entrons pas en effet dans une maison où il y a un chien ou une image». (Rapporté par Moslem)

Abul-Haiyaj Haiyan bin Husain said: 'Ali bin Abu Talib (May Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "Shall I not send you to do a task that the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) had assigned to me? Spare no portrait unwiped out, and leave not a high grave unlevelled."

[Muslim].

Selon Hayyàn Ibn Housayn, "Ali Ibn Abi Tàleb (das) lui dit une fois: «Veux-tu que je te fasse la même recommandation que celle que m"a faite le Messager de Dieu (bsdl? Tu ne trouveras pas une image sans la détruire ni une tombe s"élevant au-dessus du sol sans la ramener à son niveau». (Rapporté par Moslem)
