Once the Prophet (ﷺ) (p.b.u.h) led the fear prayer and the people stood behind him. He said Takbir (Allahu-Akbar) and the people said the same. He bowed and some of them bowed. Then he prostrated and they also prostrated. Then he stood for the second rak`a and those who had prayed the first rak`a left and guarded their brothers. The second party joined him and performed bowing and prostration with him. All the people were in prayer but they were guarding one another during the prayer.

Ibn 'Abbâs (r) dit: «Le Prophète () se leva pour la prière et les combattants firent de même; il prononça le tekbîr et eux firent de même; il fit un rukû' et une partie des combattants le fit aussi; il se prosterna et cette dernière partie se prosterna aussi. Il se leva ensuite pour la deuxième rak'a et ceux qui avaient fait le sujûd se retirèrent pour monter la garde autour de leurs frères. L'autre partie de combattants arriva alors et fît avec le Prophète le rukû' et les sujûd. Donc, tout le monde était en prière, mais les uns montaient la garde autour des autres.»

':'Telah menceritakan kepada kami Haiwah bin Syuraih berkata telah menceritakan kepada kami Muhammad bin Harb dari Az Zubaidi dari Az Zuhri dari 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Utbah dari Ibnu 'Abbas radliallahu 'anhuma berkata 'Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam melaksanakan shalat dan diikuti sekelompok orang bersamanya. Beliau lalu bertakbir dan mereka pun bertakbir bersama beliau. Kemudian beliau rukuk dan orang-orang yang bersamanya ikut rukuk. Kemudian beliau sujud dan orang-orang yang bersamanyanya pun sujud. Kemudian beliau berdiri untuk rakaat kedua maka orang-orang yang sujud bersama beliau berdiri dan berjaga-jaga untuk saudara mereka. Kemudian datanglah sekelompok yang lain (yang sebelumnya berjaga dan belum shalat) mereka lalu rukuk dan sujud bersama beliau. Dan masing-masing orang melanjutkan shalat mereka namun dengan tetap berjaga-jaga satu sama lain.''
