Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "Allah likes sneezing and dislikes yawning. When any one of you sneezes and says `Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah)', it becomes obligatory upon every Muslim who hears him to respond with `Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you)'. Yawning is from the devil. When one of you feels like yawning, he should restrain it as much as possible, for the devil laughs when one of you yawns."

Selon Abou Hourayra (das), le Prophète (bsdl) a dit: «Dieu aime l"éternuement et n"aime pas qu"on bâille. Quand l"un de vous éternue et remercie Dieu exalté, c"est un devoir pour tout Musulman qui l"a entendu de lui dire: «Que Dieu soit miséricordieux avec toi!» Quant au bâillement ce n"est qu"une instigation du Diable. Quand l"un de vous bâille qu"il fasse de son mieux pour s"en retenir car, lorsque l"un de vous bâille, le Diable se rit de lui». (Rapporté par Al Boukhâri)

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "When one of you sneezes he should say: 'Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah),' and his brother or his companion should say to him: 'Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you).' When he says this he should reply: 'Yahdikum-ullah wa yuslihu balakum (may Allah guide you and render sound your state of affairs)."'

Selon lui encore, le Prophète (bsdl) a dit: «Quand l"un de vous éternue qu"il dise: «La louange est à Dieu (Al hamdou lillàh)», et que son frère (ou son compagnon) lui dise: «Que Dieu soit miséricordieux avec toi! (Rahimakallàh)», et qu"il dise à son tour: «Que Dieu vous guide sur le droit chemin et améliore votre situation et votre état d"âme». (Rapporté par Al Boukhâri)

Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "When one of you sneezes and praises Allah (i.e., says Al-hamdu lillah), you should invoke Allah's Mercy upon him (i.e., say Yarhamuk-Allah); but if he does not praise Allah, you should not make a response." [Muslim].

Abou Musa (das) a dit: «J"ai entendu le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) dire: «Quand l"un de vous étemue et remercie Dieu, dites-lui: «Rahimakallàh!» Mais s"il ne remercie pas Dieu, ne le lui dites pas». (Rapporté par Moslem)

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: When two men sneezed in the presence of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), he responded to one with "Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you)" and did not respond to the other. The latter said to him: "You invoked a blessing on this man but did not do so in my case." The Prophet (Peace be upon him) replied, "He praised Allah (i.e., he said 'Al-hamdu lillah') but you did not."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Anas (das) rapporte: «Deux hommes éternuèrent en présence du Prophète (bsdl). Il dit à l"un d"eux: «Rahimakallàh!» et ne le dit pas à l"autre. Ce dernier dit: «Untel a étemue et tu lui as dit: «Rahimakallàh», et j"ai éternué et tu ne me l"as pas dit». Il lui dit: «Celui-ci a remercié Dieu et toi, tu ne l"as pas fait».

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) sneezed, he would cover his mouth with his hand or a piece of cloth, suppressing the sound this way.

Abou Hourayra a dit: «Quand le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) éternuait, il mettait sa main ou un pan de son vêtement sur sa bouche et atténuait sa voix». (Rapporté par Attirmidhi)

Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Jews used to intentionally sneeze in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) hoping that he would say to them: 'Yarhamukum-ullah (may Allah have mercy on you),' but he would respond with: "Yahdikum-ullahu wa yuslihu balakum (may Allah guide you and render sound your state of affairs)."

[Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi].

Abou Musa a dit: «Les Juifs faisaient semblant d"éternuer en présence du Messager de Dieu (bsdl) dans l"espoir qu"il leur dise: «Rahimakallàh», et qu"ils lui répondent: «Que Dieu te guide sur le droit chemin et améliore ta situation et ton état d"âme». (Rapporté par Abou Dawûd)

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "When one yawns, he should put his hand over his mouth, otherwise the devil will enter."
