Hadith 1869 - Bab 371 (Seeking Forgiveness)
Chapter 20 (The Book of Forgiveness)

Al-Agharr Al-Muzani (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "Sometimes I perceive a veil over my heart, and I supplicate Allah for forgiveness a hundred times in a day."

Selon Al Agharr Al Mouzanni (das), le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «II arrive certainement à mon cœur de tiédir par moments dans l"évocation de Dieu et c"est pourquoi je prie Dieu de m"absoudre cent fois par jour». (Rapporté par Moslem)

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) saying, "I swear by Allah that I seek Allah's Pardon and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."

Abou Hourayra (das) rapporte: «J"ai entendu le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) dire: «Par Dieu, je prie sûrement Dieu de m"absoudre et je retourne à Lui repentant plus de soixante dix fois par jour». (Rapporté par Al Boukhârî)

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "By the One in Whose Hand my soul is! If you do not commit sins, Allah would replace you with a people who would commit sins and seek forgiveness from Allah; and Allah will certainly forgive them."

Selon lui encore, le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «Par Celui qui tient mon âme dans Sa Main, si vous ne faisiez pas de péchés, Dieu vous emporterait et amènerait d"autres que vous pour qu"ils fassent des péchés et pour qu"ils prient Dieu exalté de les absoudre et II les absoudrait». (Rapporté par Moslem)

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: We counted Messenger's saying a hundred times during one single sitting: Rabb- ighfir li, wa tubb 'alayya, innaka Antat-Tawwabur-Rahim. (My Rubb! Forgive me and pardon me. Indeed, You are the Oft-Returning with compassion and Ever Merciful."

[Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi].

Ibn "Omar (das) rapporte: «Dans une seule séance nous comptions de la part du Messager de Dieu (bsdl) cent fois cette formule: «Seigneur Dieu! Absous-moi et accepte mon retour à Toi. C"est Toi par excellence qui acceptes le retour des repentis et qui es miséricordieux». (Rapporté par Abou Dawùd et Attirmidhi)

Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not."

[Abu Dawud].

Selon Ibn "Abbàs (das), le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «Celui qui demande assidûment à Dieu de l"absoudre. Dieu lui ménage une issue pour chaque situation étroite, lui apporte la solution de tout ce qui le préoccupe et lui donne sa subsistance d"où il ne s"attendait pas». (Rapporté par Abou Dawûd)

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "He who says: 'Astaghfir ullah-alladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Haiyul-Qayyumu, wa atubu ilaihi (I seek the forgiveness of Allah, there is no true god except Allah, the Ever-Living, the Self- Subsisting, and I turn to Him in repentance),' his sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield (while he was engaged in fighting for the Cause of Allah)."

Selon Ibn Mas"ùd (das), le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «Celui qui dit: «Je demande mon absolution à Dieu en dehors de qui il n"y a pas d"autre Dieu, Le Vivant, qui assure la bonne marche et la subsistance de toute chose, et je retourne à Lui repentant». Dieu l"absout de tous ses péchés quand même il se serait sauvé du combat quand les Musulmans s"y engageaient en masse». (Rapporté par abou Dawùd et Attirmidhi)

Shaddad bin Aus (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "The best supplication for seeking forgiveness (Syed-ul- Istighfar) is to say: 'Allahumma Anta Rabbi, la ilaha illa Anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka, wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, a'udhu bika min sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u laka bini'matika 'alayya, wa abu'u bidhanbi faghfir li, fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa Anta. (O Allah! You are my Rubb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favours that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon).' He who supplicates in these terms during the day with firm belief in it and dies on the same day (before the evening), he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah; and if anyone supplicates in these terms during the night with firm belief in it and dies before the morning, he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah."

Selon Shaddàd Ibn Aws (das), le Prophète (bsdl) a dit: «La maîtresse formule pour demander son absolution est de dire: «Seigneur Dieu! Tu es mon Seigneur. Il n"y a de dieu que Toi. Tu m"as créé et je suis Ton esclave. Je me conforme autant que je peux à mon engagement et à ma promesse vis-à-vis de Toi. Je me mets sous Ta protection contre le mal de ce que j"ai fait. Je Te reconnais Ton bienfait à mon égard. Je reconnais mon péché. Absous-moi donc car nul autre que Toi n"absout les péchés». Celui qui la prononce le jour en toute conviction, s"il meurt le jour même avant la tombée de la nuit, il fait partie des habitants du Paradis. Celui qui la prononce le soir en toute conviction, s"il meurt avant le lever du jour, il fait partie des habitants du Paradis». (Rapporté par Al Boukhâri)

Thauban (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) finished his Salat (prayer), he would beg forgiveness three times [by saying, 'Astaghfirullah' (3 times)] and then he would say: "Allahumma Antas-Salamu, wa minkas-Salamu, tabarakta ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram. (O Allah! You are the Bestower of security and security comes from You; Blessed are You. O Possessor of glory and honour)." Imam Al-Auza'i (one of the subnarrators) of this Hadith was asked: "How forgiveness should be sought?" He replied: "I say: Astaghfirullah, Astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness from Allah. I seek forgiveness from Allah)."

[Muslim].

Thawbàn (das) rapporte: «Le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) demandait trois fois l"absolution de Dieu à la fin de chaque prière. Il disait: «Seigneur Dieu! Tu es le salut et le salut vient de Toi. Béni sois-Tu par Toi-même, ô digne de glorification et d"honneur!» On demanda à Al Oùzà (l"un des rapporteurs de ce Hadith): «Comment demandait-il l"absolution de Dieu?» Il dit: «II disait: «Je demande à Dieu de m"absoudre. Je demande à Dieu de m"aboudre». (Rapporté par Moslem)

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: Prior to his demise, the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) used to supplicate frequently: Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi; Astaghfirullaha wa atubu ilaihi (Allah is free from imperfection, and I begin with praising Him. I beg forgiveness from Allah and I turn to Him in repentance."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

"Àisha (das) rapporte: «Juste avant sa mort le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) disait beaucoup: «Gloire et pureté à Dieu ainsi que louange. Je demande à Dieu de m"absoudre et je reviens à Lui repentant».
